Erupting on the inside

Crawling out of the sea of darkness,

To reach a beam of thin light that changes everything.

Triggering a domino effect around you,

That changes it all.

It stimulates a feeling of hope erupting inside you like a volcano.

Bubbling and pouring out on the land around you,

Burning the land, creatures and people you know.

Creating a new beginning,

A chance at a change,

A chance at a new life,

A chance to live again.

To be your true self,

A chance to fulfill all your desires,

To be the master of your own fate,

The creator of your own pleasures,

To fulfill your own destiny,

All begins with a positive change,

Like the blooming of a rose

You’re given the change to love again.

The cat and dog By Mike Noel

I sat by my fire that night.

Roasting my legs. The fabric of the pants I wore would warm in the thickness and I would feel good for awhile. It would feel good as my arms and back got cold. My legs would warm me through transduction or so.

I looked out yonder hither and I beknownst come a beast.

He looked upon me and purred a savage rest.

“Why come you!” I shouted out into the unforgiving dark.

He purred some more and sat just outside the firelight.

I know the cat that stands a dog. I know his affliction for I was once was. I was once.

And his eyes glittered strong against the moon, watching me.

The chicken, I pulled out of my pack, intrigued him but he did not move.

I pulled my skewer against it but still the hyena did not budge.

I thrust my pull into the fire and we watched the heat spoil it. And yet I knew better.

As I pulled it away, steam rolled off the top of the spike and the blacked edges of meat. You could tell that the meat was cooked through. ‘When its black, it’s done’ as cooks used to say.

He looked on.

I smelled the chicken and took a bite.

He looked on.

I looked upon the meat and decided a friend was worth the belly. I pulled the meat off the skewer and laid it cleanly on the ground. I could still eat it here.

The hyena looked up, and laughed under its breathe.

And I thought, oh no. He has finally found me in this dark, against this light.

And the beast walked forward casually. As if expecting no less than you and ate the chicken quietly.

A single look up in gratitude was enough for me.

I wept the night.

What a cure would mean to me.

What a cure means to me.

Three months ago, my six year old daughter Olivia started having symptoms of excessive thrust, extreme hunger, and dehydration. Olivia was eating all the time and not gaining any weight. After spending two wonderful days together off to camp Smithy and watching the fireworks under the stars with our four wonderful children. We realized there was something wrong with our daughter Olivia. The following day we took her to emergency at CHEO. Her sugar level was so high the machine was unable to read it. They hooked her up to an IV and diagnosed her with diabetes type 1. At first every time we gave her an insulin shot she cried. This made me cry and sad I don’t want my sweet heart to be in pain. When she was out of the hospital my husband and I gave Olivia her injections. I was so nervous! I didn’t want my little girl to feel pain. This made me cry because this is something I can’t fix nor can the doctors. I can only help her adapt to her new chronic illness. I wish there was a cure!

2nd Annual FaeryFest 2012
Perth, ON
By Cheryl Sinfield, Faerie Ce Ce

The Faeries are returning to Perth, ON. Saturday, June 9th, 2012 for the 2nd Annual FaeryFest! This Festival will take place at the Perth Civitan Hall, on Highway 43, just outside of Perth, from 10am to 5pm. Come dress in your finest Faery garb or mystical creature! Faery Wings are most WELCOME! In the Faery tradition of healing the planet and helping the animals, there will be free admission to the Festival but a donation to L.A.W.S. would be greatly appreciated. This year L.A.W.S. will be there with their own booth to accept donations and give info on the animal shelter. Last year's festival attracted approx. 200 - 250 people, with only 13 vendors, artists, and authors, etc. This year's festival has a bigger venue of 35 vendors, artists, and authors, etc. to date. The participants of FaeryFest will be inside the hall, as well as outside on the grounds surrounding the hall.
The organizer, Cheryl Sinfield was given this idea to have a FaeryFest last year from a close friend. She wanted to include anything and everybody that believed in the Faery Faith/Energy. The Faeries are here to remind us not to take life so seriously and have some fun. This is what the organizer wants to accomplish with this event! There will be something for everyone, for the very young to the young at heart!
Local artists, authors, vendors, oracle readers and healing practitioners will be there to temp you with their wares, knowledge and skill. As well as a FaeryLand Craft Zone for the little "Faeries" too. Local Perth resturant, Grandma's Lunch Box will be there to satisfy any mystical creature's stomach with treats, snacks, drinks and lunch.
There are many artists coming and returning to FaeryFest this year, here are a few of them. Sculptor, Doug MacDonald from Rue Royale has a wide array of cast cement sculptures. Another returning sculptress is Cheryl Sinfield of Faerie Art by Faerie Ce Ce with her natural one-of-a-kind Faery houses and doors, to attract the Faeries. Fibre artist, Cindy Keary will return too with her shawls and other kniting and weaving, which she makes from the wool from her own sheep. Her son is offering handmade candle holders with symbols for every modality. Christine Joyce will be showing and selling her originals and prints of Faery paintings and drawings. She will be selling masks, candles and cards too. Nature-inspired patio figurines M.E.L.PS. (Mary-Ellen's-Little-People) by artist Mary-Ellen Dick will be at FaeryFest too. Another sculptor/artist, John Ladd will be offering his wood carvings, hand built pottery, sheet metal art and paintings and sketches. A new artist/vendor to FaeryFest is Maryse Ferguson. She makes beautiful stain glass art and tie dye clothing. Pauline Bodkin and Tracey Foster will be sharing a booth. They will be showing and selling their Faery Shields, painted Mandalas and wire and beaded Crowns.
There will be beautiful handmade jewellery from Jenni Dumoulin of J27 Creations. If you forgot your Faery wings, Jenni is making handmade one-of-a-kind wings. Sharing a booth with Jenni will be Shannon Hiscocks of Gold Canyon Candles and as well her homemade bath salts. Shirley Lotz is showcasing and selling her custom made, original designed jewellery from Dubai. Oh my Faery Goddess!!! A local store from Perth, Shadowfax will be at the event tempting you with Faery Merchandise- figurines, books, oracle cards, crystals, gemstones and jewellery.
There are four authors joining us at FaeryFest this year. Denise Carpenter of Reiki Associates will be returning with her book, Reiki Wings and accompanied by the students notes. Children's author Nancy Lee Amos will be returning with her 3 part Scottish Faerytale series: Isabella and the Healing Faeries. New to FaeryFest is another children's author, Riemke Bles. Her books are set in Holland and are called Nelltje's Garden and Beene and the Atlantic Ocean. The last but not least children's fantasy author, Nathalie M. LeBlanc wrote The Magic Coat Series: Shrinking Forward.
FaeryLand Craft Zone will be hosted by I Heart My Art program. The craft will be using natural materials. There will be a fee for children to take part in the craft. As well, at the FaeryLand Craft Zone, there will be other activities that the children can be involved in, such as the Faery Boat. Get a surprise from a Faery at the Faery Boat! Beside the Craft Zone, Urban Trends will be offering face-painting, hair feathers, hair tinsel, and coloured extentions. As well, Ariessa from Urban Trends will be selling beautiful Faery Tutu's . Along with the Face-painting, another vendor, H & H Henna Artists will be offering Henna designs/tattoos.
Keeping with the Faery tradition, there will be natural body and health products and healing treatments and sessions available to sample and purchase. Arbonne, Exfuze and another natural product company, Swirley Thing will be there to promote and sell their products. Some of the healing sessions and treatments are Reiki, Pranic Healing, Reflexology, Quantum Touch, Homeopathy and Sandplay therapy. Oracle card, Tarot card, and Bean readings will be available at FaeryFest too.
